I'm about to leave the Linux world ... from the output of GNOME 3, Unity and other projects that do not quite square, Fuduntu was my only distro.

Would that be something sooo fuse like what was Fuduntu (obvious and not use GNOME 2) but I have all the faith a Fuse

Gutted to see this great project go, Fuduntu is just brilliant on my netbook, everything works, battery life is amazing, and it just had a really good feel to it. I really appreciate what the team have put together, and will probably keep using it until FuSE!

It was on the Muktware site that I saw and read an article about Cloverleaf Linux which is now the new name of the FuSE distro since May 6. Since you're talking about an interface that looked nice (MacOSX style), and after seeing a few Fuduntu screenshots, perhaps you might like Pinguy OS 12.04 LTS. You can see screenshots of it at http://linuxscreenshot.netsons...

Pinguy OS is based on Ubuntu but it has already been tweaked and enhanced, and includes lots of software (except for GIMP, and I also replaced the gPicViewer with the Fragment Image Viewer - GwenView is great too). It has a modified GNOME3 desktop without Unity. XBMC Media Center is in it also.

Well that sucks. I downloaded this and am LOVING it. I have used Ubuntu for year now and loved it. But Ubuntu is nothing compared to this. This just runs so much smoother. So I guess I hope somebody can help me real quick before this all disapears. What are the repositories or whatever I need to get dvds to play? Thanks. (I am still learning linux). Thanks.

People must not know a good OS when they see it!

Just realized the discontinuation today when I was installing Fuduntu on my FunduntMac... Been using Fuduntu for a long time on the desktop, and hated the macOS on my macbook; so I had to try Fuduntu on it... Then I saw this. :(

Thanks for everything Team Fuduntu... I was super loyal and did not foresee a switch... I'll miss this great OS and will be watching and waiting for your new project.

Pity, this was a great product. It had everything, looks, performance, rolling updates, worked with all hardware, sad to see it end.

This was a great distro. I have a background in Fedora and this was just the right mix of Gnome2 and upto-date packages that run fast, clean and with great power saving mode for the laptop/netbook.

It's really sad that it has come to an end.

For those who don't know, the project's name has changed. It's now cloverleaf http://cloverleaf-linux.org/
It was because it seemed too close to suse.

Hope the project will be as great as fuduntu.

One of the reasons the project was closed because GNOME2 support was dropped upstream. So, NO, FuSE will not be a GNOME 2 distro

Funny. I keep coming back here, hoping that it all was but a bad dream. But i guess it's real. Fuduntu died. While i can understand the reasons and the will to end the project now rather than to let it rot for a while i am still sad that this great distro is no more.

An openSUSE base is surely a great choice ... considering the vast possibility of SUSE tools such as YaST, OBS, SUSE Studio and all.

Relative Linux newb here, and rarely post comments anywhere - been toying with various distros over the last year, and just discovered and tried Fuduntu within the last few days (May 5, 2013). Newt - it appears you have your valid reasons for leaving the project - best of luck to you! But, you should be very proud of Fuduntu, indeed. This is simply the nicest, smoothest, complete, resource efficient (snappy), beautiful GUI, user-friendly distro I've ran across yet. A real shame to see it go (just as I found it... dagnabbit!!).

I honestly feel the Linux community as a whole needs to get it's collective collaborative act together, as when such a fine version such as Fuduntu is created - it can't help but become lost in the shuffle of the over-abundant plethora of other (lesser, IMHO) distros out there - therefore not gaining the attention and support it deserves in order to survive and flourish. A real loss to the community, IMO. This really could have been "the One".

I will be following this FuSE thingy, though...

Regardless - best of luck in future developments, to all of the Fuduntu team!

WOW. I am just now discovering this thing called fuduntu with a gnome2 experience.. If only I had learned of this much sooner, I wouldn't have abandoned linux (yes, the desktop is that important to me). While this news is disheartening, I will keep an eye out for FuSE!

I am a recent Funduntu user and was really enjoying your distribution. I am very sad to hear that it has ended, that said good luck on your new project.

Can you tell us what you are going to be doing differently on the new project? Will it still be a small, fast and laptop focused distribution? What do you think are the big mistakes you made with Fuduntu and how will you fix these in FUSE?

Consort DE is not Gnome 2 so it still has to prove itself worthy to use and compete. It's based on GTK3, it's forked from Gnome Classic and thus is still a Gnome 3 fork.

I read that the developer of Consort DE moved it away from GTK 3.4 to 3.6 to keep it compatible. That means it needs to be built against GTK 3.8 (Gnome3) soon to keep up, to keep it compatible again.

Same problem Mint ran into with Cinnamon that caused Cinnarch to switch to plain Gnome 3 itself. Cinnamon wasn't compatible anymore all of the sudden from what i read on DW a while back. I don't know if those problems have been solved yet though.

Just my thoughts. Anyway, good luck with everything.
